LED Light Therapy aftercare: 48‑Hour Aftercare Plan

Downtown Freeport, South Main Street in Freeport Village near the Nautical Mile and Woodcleft Canal
The single most important rule after LED Light Therapy is simple: protect your skin barrier for the next 48 hours. I’ve had clients come in feeling dry, wrinkly, and puffy after a facial and leave looking “5–6 years younger, ” with skin that looks firm, clear, and glowing. Aftercare is what helps that fresh, clean look last instead of fading fast, especially here in Freeport where Long Island sun and humidity can sneak up on you.
Your first 24 hours after LED Light Therapy: keep it cool, clean, and lightly hydrated
LED Light Therapy is an add-on I use to support the facial you’re already doing. It pairs beautifully with treatments aimed at skin rejuvenation and collagen support. Right after your appointment, your best move is to go gentle and stay consistent.
48-hour shield plan (start immediately): gentle cleanse, lightweight moisturizer, and broad-spectrum SPF. Avoid heat, heavy sweat, and strong actives for at least 24 to 72 hours.
Do this today
- Cleanse with a mild, non-scrubby cleanser. Lukewarm water only.
- Moisturize with a lightweight, fragrance-free cream or lotion. If I sent you home with a calming serum, let it fully absorb before anything else.
- Apply SPF 30+ even if it’s cloudy. Long Island daylight still counts.
Skip this for the first 24 hours
- Hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, and very hot yoga style heat.
- Hard workouts that leave you drenched. Sweat and heat can irritate freshly treated skin.
- Picking at texture or squeezing anything. Let your skin settle.
If you’re heading to the Nautical Mile after your appointment, toss a travel SPF in your bag or wear a wide-brim hat. The sun reflecting off the water near Woodcleft Canal is no joke.
Days 2 to 7: the “don’t undo it” week (especially if your facial included exfoliation)
Most people love how clean their skin feels after a facial. I hear it all the time, that just-left-the-spa clean. The way you keep that look is by holding off on anything that strips or overheats the skin while it’s still settling.
For 48 to 72 hours, I generally recommend skipping retinoids and exfoliating acids (AHA/BHA), plus scrubs, brushes, and any “tingly” resurfacing products. If your facial included extractions or any chemical exfoliation, follow the more conservative timeline. In other words, give yourself the full 72 hours before you reintroduce actives.
Freeport reality check: On sunny or humid Long Island days, heat plus sun is the fastest way to dull results. Keep workouts lighter for 24 to 72 hours, then build back up based on how your skin feels.
And stay steady with SPF. You don’t need to hide indoors, but you do need to protect treated skin for the next few days. If you’re outdoors boating or walking around Downtown Freeport, reapply sunscreen and try for shade when you can.
The simple product routine I like after LED: cleanse, moisturize, SPF, repeat
After LED Light Therapy, simple beats complicated. You don’t need ten steps. You need the right three steps done consistently so your skin stays calm and hydrated.
Cleanser
Go for a mild, fragrance-free cleanser. No scrub beads. No exfoliating pads for 48 to 72 hours.
Moisturizer
A lightweight moisturizer is usually enough. If you’re dry, layer a second thin coat instead of jumping to heavy occlusive products right away.
Sunscreen
Use broad-spectrum SPF 30+ every morning. If you’re outside around the Nautical Mile or Woodcleft Canal, reapply as needed and consider a hat.
If you’re also doing other services with me, like a facial series or even searching for eyebrow threading near me, waxing near me, or brazilian waxing near me while you’re already in Downtown Freeport, just let me know what you’ve got scheduled. I’ll keep your timing sensible so your skin isn’t dealing with too much at once.
When to text or call me: what’s normal, what isn’t, and how I handle it
A little pinkness right after your facial is common, especially if you had extractions or exfoliation as part of the service your LED was added to. Skin can also feel slightly warm for a short time, then settle.
Reach out if you get persistent irritation, swelling, or anything that feels like it’s getting worse instead of better by the next day. I’d rather you check in early than guess at home. My approach is the same reason people stick with us for years. I take my time, pay attention to details, and I want you feeling confident about what you’re doing between appointments.
“Wax flower Spa is a 10/10, I can’t say enough good things about this spot.”

Quick reminder: LED Light Therapy is currently an add-on I use to enhance your facial results. If you’re doing multiple treatments close together, I’ll keep you on the more conservative aftercare timeline.
If you’re coming in from Merrick, Bellmore, Wantagh, Baldwin, Oceanside, or Lindenhurst, keep this page handy for every session. Consistency is what keeps that clean, glowy look showing up in your mirror days later.

LED Light Therapy aftercare FAQs I get all the time
How long should I avoid sun after LED Light Therapy (Add-On Service)?
I want you taking sun seriously for at least 48 hours. Use broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily, aim for shade, and reapply if you’re outside around the Nautical Mile or anywhere the sun reflects off water or pavement.
Can I exercise after LED Light Therapy (Add-On Service)?
I generally recommend skipping heavy sweating for 24 to 72 hours, depending on what your LED was paired with. A gentle walk is usually fine. Intense workouts, hot yoga, and anything in high heat is better saved for later.
When can I wear makeup after LED Light Therapy (Add-On Service)?
Makeup is generally fine after a short wait, usually 1 to 2 hours, once any serums and moisturizer have fully absorbed. For the first day, I’d keep it lighter and avoid heavy, pore-clogging products if you’re prone to breakouts.
What skincare ingredients should I avoid after LED Light Therapy (Add-On Service)?
For 48 to 72 hours, skip retinoids and exfoliating acids like AHA/BHA, plus scrubs and resurfacing pads. Keep it gentle so you don’t end up irritated or flaky.
Is it safe to swim or use a hot tub after LED Light Therapy (Add-On Service)?
I’d hold off for at least 24 to 48 hours. Hot tubs add heat, and pools can be drying. If your facial included extractions or exfoliation, give it a little longer and keep your skin barrier calm first.
